The engine behind SolvedHand.
Turnstone combines stored numerical solutions with an on-demand flop search and numerical turn and river solves. The result label tells you which kind of answer you are reading.
Stored solutions and live solves
A stored solution is calculated ahead of time for a specified board, pot, stacks, ranges, and betting menu. A live numerical solve builds an answer for the configured turn or river situation. Both describe that modelled game, within a stated solve tolerance. A product label such as “exact” does not remove those restrictions.
Different betting menus describe different games. A solution with one permitted bet size cannot tell you the strategy for an omitted size. The same caution applies when the actual opponent’s Range differs from the configured input. Our methodology explains which settings need to accompany a result.
Why flop search is an estimate
Searching all future betting and runouts from a flop is more work than solving from a later street. Turnstone’s flop search uses a trained model to estimate continuation values at the turn boundary. Its output is an Engine estimate, with a separate source of error from the numerical solver’s stopping tolerance.
A learned continuation value is a recognised poker-research approach; the DeepStack paper is background on that research direction. It is not evidence that Turnstone reproduces DeepStack’s algorithm or results. Turnstone needs its own evaluation on its own ranges, menus, and test boards.
What an evaluation can establish
A benchmark applies to its tested model, sample, and configuration. Library coverage and benchmark coverage are different inventories. A larger stored library does not automatically extend an older accuracy measurement to the newly added spots.
This page does not publish an overall accuracy score or a timing guarantee. A mean can hide a poor individual spot; a selected warm request does not establish a response-time distribution. No named-product accuracy comparison has been established. Read what a solver result can tell you for the distinction between a modelled solution and a claim about play.
Where to use it
Use Turnstone through SolvedHand. Turnstone and SolvedHand have the same owner. SolvedHand’s full trainer is currently invite-only; check its homepage for current access. This research site provides explanations and articles, not a public engine endpoint.
